QR Codes in Retail

Quick Response, or QR, codes can be used in a wide variety of instances. One of the most beneficial ways to use this approach in terms of a business is to incorporate the use of these codes in the customer’s experience. QR code marketing is becoming increasingly popular in the United States, and will soon be incorporated into many aspects within the retail industry. By using these codes in retail, you provide your customers with a more advanced and satisfying experience.

  1. In-Store Displays. One way to use QR codes in retail is to incorporate these codes to displays throughout your store. In addition to the displays, you can also add them to the individual products so that customers have an enhanced shopping experience with all of their questions answered at the touch of a button. This will, in turn, reduce the amount of help you need from in-store associates when speaking in terms of answering questions. From electronics to toys and other types of items, these codes have the ability to provide your customers with the official website, contact information or even detailed information about the relevant history and information on the product or service they are interested in.
  2. QR Code Marketing. When marketing your retail services, you have the ability to use these codes for promotions and discounts on your products and services. Use these QR codes in retail to direct your targeted customer base to the advertisements, discounts, specials and new products or services that you want them to learn about. If you place these codes in a related magazine, instead of stuffing all of the information on one page of the publication, place the information that you want the potential customers to know and supply them with extreme detail through the use of the code.
  3. Window Shopping. Instead of filling your store with window shoppers, provide them with a QR code on the front door of your store so they are able to know exactly what you offer. By providing them with the detailed information ahead of time, this creates more room inside your store for buyers to shop. The QR codes can provide information such as product names and categories, as well as product reviews of each product you offer. You can also choose to have a “New Arrivals” or “Coming Soon” option so the customers know when to expect the products they seek.

QR codes can be used in the retail industry for a variety of reasons, one of which is to build customer loyalty. By incorporating this approach to your retail business, your customers are more apt to return for future purchases whether it is a product or service they are in need of. Another reason to use QR codes is to drive web traffic to your company’s official website. This is particularly the case when used in promotional means, such as magazines and newspapers. Other reasons include lead generation to improve your sales and customer base, and to improve your conversion rate by showing customers everything they need to know in order to make an informed purchase.
